Centralized Delivery Information
Effective mail service is an integral part of any community and must be given proper
consideration during the planning stages – especially since unlike single family residential
delivery, centralized delivery requires "common space". With an average 1.7 million
NEW delivery points added each year, the USPS prefers centralized delivery mailbox
installations in all new construction projects. As each community may have its own
requirements, it is recommended that prior to completing any new mailbox installation
plans; you should consult with your local postal authorities.
Florence Manufacturing is pleased to have partnered with the USPS to develop extensive
lines of approved products to meet this growing demand. Centralized mail delivery
equipment can be in the form of any "clustered" type of mailbox – including free-standing,
pedestal mounted cluster box units (CBU) or other cluster mailboxes mounted in a wall,
kiosk or shelter.
By focusing on centralized delivery early in the project, mail service can begin during
construction if needed. In addition, the cost of one centralized CBU is cheaper than the
cost of the same number of individual mailboxes, takes up less space, provides a more
uniform look to the neighborhood, and is the "greenest" delivery method available. Plus,
the added security of locked mailboxes protects privacy and helps deter identity theft.
